Yeah, i get fighting works neatly in a rock paper scissors pairing, but they can branch out a bit.

Probably. The Pokémon Fandom has a tendency to completely forget some starters exist.
Me? I'm just hoping the devs don't do Ghost, Dark, and Fighting as subtypes AGAIN. Or the Fandom doesn't come up with some justification for "Oh its fire/Fighting" when it's not. (Emboar was the last one ffs...)
Plus, they finally got one that went to all fours.
Its name is Skeledirge.
