Recently, our staff took a walking tour of historic Jewish Harlem, visiting locations important to Jewish and NYC cultural history like the Apollo Theatre and the historic sites of Temple Israel and Shaarei Zedek.

We immediately allocated $1 million directly to Soroka, and today's visit underscored the importance of our ongoing support  — as Soroka works to quickly restore its vital services.

Today, our CEO and UJA leadership visited Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, and saw for themselves the devastation and disruption after an Iranian ballistic missile struck Soroka’s central campus, causing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage and injuring 50 people.

We’ll keep to our promise to be there for Raja and everyone else whose lives were upended by the war, ensuring our support – from emergency relief for evacuees to trauma counseling – meets the evolving needs on the ground.

The trauma and devastation from the strikes loom large – especially for Raja Khatib of Tamra, whose life was irrevocably changed when a missile hit his home, killing his wife and two daughters.

Our UJA team on the ground in Israel recently visited two cities that were struck by Iranian missiles: Tamra, an Arab city in the Galilee, and Haifa.
