Light Magnifies Light In the first weekend of November, during the government shutdown, a blind elderly man walked into his usual Brooklyn grocery store.

As Hanukkah approaches and the temperature drops, the sting of poverty and food insecurity only grows sharper – and with 300,000 New York households at risk of losing SNAP benefits, it’s more important than ever before to support vulnerable New Yorkers.

“While our community’s support can never replace the essential role of government resources and benefits, we can, in our focused and purposeful way, be that single candle that sparks a blaze of good for so many.”

We’ve donated $1 million to build a shared society hub for Jewish-Arab Israeli partnership named in her honor, perpetuating her work building bridges and turning her dream of Jewish-Arab equality into a reality.

As Thanksgiving approaches, the recent government shutdown and SNAP crisis mean hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people are facing a tough holiday right now.

We are outraged by the demonstrations outside of Park East Synagogue. Calling for an intifada outside of a synagogue is antisemitic — and unacceptable.

We are horrified by the blatant antisemitism on display in newly released audio from a recent event at City College, and we call on CUNY officials to ensure incidents like this cannot and will not happen again.

To celebrate a century of Jewish storytelling, we’re partnering with The Charles H. Revson Foundation to turn downtown Manhattan into a pop-up bookstore filled with works written by Jewish authors from the past hundred years – ensuring that Jewish literature continues to thrive.
