Community response tips for those starting out on their organizing journey. In the moment tips: Report ICE activity to CIRC Rapid Response Hotline, Whistle to alert those around you of agency presence, Form a crowd — power in numbers, Record interactions using a cell phone camera, Don’t physically intervene if someone is being detained unless you are trained, Ask the person being detained for their name, date of birth, and a contact for their lawyer or family member, Remind individuals of rights — you have the right to remain silent If possible, note agency name, license plates, and other identifiers. Safety: Know the risk of getting involved, make a personal assessment, Don’t lie to officers or provide false documents, Don’t sign anything — ask for a lawyer.
