Recently bought the Positive Grid Spark Mini (right before the Spark 2 launched, oops.) and I've been having a hell of a time with it. It's a small little beast with some good bite in its bark. Plus it's plenty portable. (DSi for scale)

Shadow Gens is super fun, I'd really love more of this kinda stuff. If they do DLC besides the Movie 3 pack, I'm sold. The actual Gens remake I'm a little iffy on tbh, and it's not just the script or the Voice Acting.

But as a long time fan, and a guy who considers this game to be my favorite of all time, I was disappointed in the remake. Now I will say, it's not all doom and gloom and I genuinely enjoy this release either way, I'm more puzzled as to how these things happen anyway.

I found this experience being inferior to the original in almost every way besides the upscale and stabilized frame rate. It sucks the most since the OG gens is buyable by itself anymore (or at all for PSN) so a lot of people are gonna end up getting this. If you like it, more power to ya

It was a stable 60 FPS the whole way through, no I mean the game just behaved in ways that it just flat out didn't do in the original release. Setpieces bugging out, collision not working, control input being oddly inconsistent (my controller is brand new btw).

Now if the only issues were the VA work and Script then that'd be fine, but I also ran into some oddites in the form of glitches that weren't there in the beginning, as well as generally chicanery in the game running as it should. Now I should say, the game never dropped frames.

The bad timing on the dialogue, the mistimed music to the dialogue, the empty delivery, all of it was a huge distraction and disappointment. Now I don't love the OG script, but I didn't think it was the worst thing in the world, I thought it was inoffensive at worst. M

As a result, this feels like a haphazard dub than a full on remake. The extra dialogue for Sonic during the friend saving cutscenes was what got me the most, it added nothing besides an excuse for Rodger to say something really quick. (Not that that's a bad thing, it's just wholly unnecessary imo)

Now onto Gens itself. To be frank, I think this version has a few too many issues that stop it from being peak Gens. Obviously the Rewrite is one thing, but what got me worse is that the cutscenes were all rerendered (I think) but none of the lip syncing was retooled.

So, SXSG is here. I enjoy the hell out the game, but I've got my issues. We'll start Shadows section. It's a much shorter romp than I expected, only being about 4 hours, though it's not much longer than Gens originally. I just think it'd have been nice to get more.
