even after the objectively better anime version of aot ending, ive seen people say "they made it worse" and im so confused on how removing a pretty badly executed line of thanking for genocide and adding more dialogue to make it less rushed and better paced makes it "so much worse"

03.12.2024 11:45 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

just the general way everyone wanted certain headcanons to be true or some ships that werent confirmed, it really blew out of proportions and at some point just got to spreading misinformation

i wanted to hate the aot ending so bad when i originally watched it, but the more critques of it i read, the more things started making less sense and the more i loved it
and watching how people talk about mha ending was disgusting as well

is a beautiful way of ending things where it's such a personal way to end the story, where things conclude with everyone looking deep inside themselves and trying to understand what they were fighting for and why, and i think armin and eren's duality as friends and characters really showcases this

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

it was just a way of delving into a very human part of eren, and the author himself i think has said in interviews that eren and armin are both parts of himself, so the final conversation being between armin and eren, one showcasing the hope of humanity and the other its own destruction

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

obsessions and desires, how we can work so hard for something only to reach the other side and not understand we wanted it in the first place, and i think it happens to alot of us, questioning our inner most thoughts and nature, i dont personally think ymir had any involvement in that

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

he was like this ever since he was a child, and heck, in the first episode of the return to shiganshina arc, he answers with the same answer of "idk why i want freedom, but it brings me strength", i think isayama basically wanted to delve more into how short sighted people become with their

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

as for eren's confusion on why he doesnt understand his obsession for freedom, its a thing thats actually shown multiple times throughout the series, but this dialogue of "i dont know why" is the ultimate pay offs to these details, of eren answering that he was "simply born this way", and that

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

will, but there was still the want of connection, which later on she realizes she had with her children, and that the one with the king was one she had to let go, and that was less of eren's part, and more mikasa and armin, but yeah, eren was still part of the reason she reached to that freedom

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

that got the titan power to go on all these years, and that love translated into her listening to anyone with the royal blood, and it was only until eren reminded her that she is no slave nor god, only a person who can make a choice, where she chooses him over the royal blood, to commit to eren's

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

but with her also is the want of connection, one of the first panels we see her in is her watching a wedding, and the core mechanics of the paths is the idea of all eldians being connected because that was what she ultimately wanted, but she got stuck in a toxic nightmarish love

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i think it was answered an interview as well that ymir freed the pigs because she related to them in some way, and i personally like to add this to the fact that it was this fear of having agency and making choices that led to be a slave in the first place, still wanting to be free

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i think personally ymir had less of an actual role than you are suggesting, but she is still quite important as you have shown, but i think it was less of ymir controlling anyone or being controlled by anyone (exception being the king she loved of course before eren "freed" her)

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

result that would set ymir free, he also basically admits to his fault of wanting to erase everything, that if things were different and he wasnt stopped by his friends, he never would have stopped, which would in the end never have set ymir free in the first place

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

beautiful blue sky, that was basically his dream, to see and be in the view in which most represented freedom, an empty world without walls, and those walls being the outside world that hated them. as much as eren was stuck in a timeloop of the founder's powers, confused and trying to get to the end

03.12.2024 11:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

consequences he brought on, he never really wanted to see an ocean of blood, but moreso wanted to feel the feeling armin had when he saw the book, that look in armin's eyes is when eren realized that he wasnt "free" in a sense, its why in the freedom scene, we see eren simply flying through an empty
