Aimer media don't seem to be on here. @chpublishing.bsky.social are but we haven't tagged them in to the discussion about yesterday being 2 months behind

Archaeologists have to call out the destruction of cultural heritage wherever it’s done - e.g. 6th century Bamiyan statues in Afghanistan, Ukraine, Gaza (extensive destruction of museums, archaeological sites, libraries) or here, a UNESCO world heritage site in Tehran

Ending Commonwealth voting is a big step and has nothing to do with voter fraud

Well. It knows what day today is. If you swipe back to yesterday...

The migrant workers/slaves who built the city is geopolitics. The dirty money, the sanctions evasion, the uneasy relationships with neighbours, the war UAE funds in Sudan... Anyone living there is exposed to geopolitics. Just now they can't pretend otherwise.

"politics" is when you have to experience the consequences of your actions

02.03.2026 20:40 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Local Politics is when 20 slaves die building the skyscraper I live in. Geopolitics is when I have to consider a miniscule chance of danger to me.

Isn't a "large, global hedge funds" itself geopolitics?

Hmmm I wonder if MacAfee which i have would do this

Puberty does make a difference to how clothes might fit a person, but there is a huge variation of breast size for example but this isn't catered for in blouses.

There is no good reason for blouses to button one way and shirts the other. Most women dress themselves these days

That might make sense at secondary school but not at 5. And as a person with large boobs most blouses don't reflect my curves. Pepperberry did but don't exist anymore

Ooh a Val McDermid I've not read

That was a good monologue

"Shame is an overlooked quality in a society which rewards celebrity over accomplishments, and mistakes the realisation of one's imperfections for a mental health affliction.

"A society in which we medicalise disappointment and normalise complacency, whose preoccupation with 'I' cannot see 'us'.

"We tolerate a technological world of falsehood, deception, and aggression. A celebration of mendacity. A world without shame.

"But if we are led by virtue, we will develop a sense of shame, which in turn will guide us to be good. Shame only shows us how far we are from perfection. #SilentWitness

"Shame. A quality which alerts us to the gap between who we are today and the best version of ourselves. It's not a disparagement of the essence of our being, but a reminder of who we could be. Inspiring, helping us to rise, not driving us to despair.

I was about to suggest they were problem thinking about sister's husband's brothers and not deceased husband's brothers...

Which was allowed later than dead wife's sisters...

That is the stuff of nightmares - or at least the sort of dreams I have where I need the loo and all the toilets have issues

Also I'm worried about the door from the downstairs hall into the WC which hits the loo and also seems to be the route into the workroom

Thank you. @ruthh.bsky.social @wobblygoose.bsky.social and I were talking and I said something about many bodies of water in the Lake District which led onto dead bodies in the l Lake District realised we didn't know any detective novels set there

basically: if you are a decent amateur tennis player, you're going to lose 6-0 6-0 to someone better than you

they are going to lose 6-0 6-0 to someone better than them, and so on

this is what I mean by levels - there are more tiers like this between you and the pros than you think

Anyone know if there's a way to make a Windows machine show which folders have big files in them? My laptop is complaining it only has 5gb left (which sounds like lots to me)

02.03.2026 22:17 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Random thought. Does anyone know of detective novels set in the Lake District?

I don’t think we bewail enough, these days. Gotta up those bewailing numbers; those are rookie numbers.

I grew up with those hymns as part of my most profound experiences of faith, and I'm sincerely sorry that others didn't get to have that experience, but belittle the way good people pray just because you can't think about God and hear a guitar at the same time and you will catch my fury πŸ”₯

It’s a full moon tonight (2nd March) into tomorrow (the 3rd). It’s the Worm Moon, named because it coincides with earthworms becoming active and more visible. More generally, this full moon symbolises renewal and awakening. Those in the US will also be able to observe a full lunar eclipse πŸͺ±πŸŒ

Denigrating the creativity that is basically our only redeeming feature. Sacrificing our immense soft power for an industrial boom that can't ever happen.
