Amazing record!

Proximity of the Channel Tunnel suggests train-assisted.
Looks epic! Will have to go there!
06.06.2025 16:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, I told them I wonβt be getting the insurance and therefore wonβt do the survey. They gave me permission and the license in the following email.

26.04.2025 21:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi Darren, whatβs a good modern book on Dinosaurs please? More for reading than looking at pictures.
26.04.2025 17:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, both correct
11.04.2025 16:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Wow!
06.04.2025 20:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great work! English Nature described the ground flora of Wistman's Wood in 1964 as 'characterised by areas of Bilberry, Creeping Soft Grass, Great Woodrush and Bramble.' Would be good if they let those species re-establish too. The majority of the understory is grazed out these days.
06.04.2025 18:15 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would be really interested in your decisions. Presumably they could be a case for accepting some European species but managing ones from other continents.
02.04.2025 16:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Looks fantastic. Are their any non-native plants colonising it? If they did would the plan be to intervene and remove them or just monitor to see what happens?
01.04.2025 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Great weather for seeing reptiles at the moment, male (left) and female Viviparous Lizards (Zootoca vivipara) basking in my local woods, Southeast Hampshire. #reptiles #britishreptiles @arc-trust.bsky.social
01.04.2025 19:40 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt think Holm Oak will need assistance, itβs growing wild all over parts of Hampshire. Iβve seen it growing wild in Somerset and the Chilterns too. Itβs established and here to stay.
28.03.2025 09:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm in south Hampshire and the woodlands are changing here already. Holm Oak, Turkey Oak, Bay trees and other Mediterranean species are radically spreading.
27.03.2025 16:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Elder is prob the very best cavity-bearing shrub, far better than hawthorn, hazel, blackthorn (very poor). Important nesting shrub for Marsh Tits & Willow Tits, but only if left to develop old trunks and cavities, not cut. Like Hazel, they self-coppice without management, with new growth from base.

Happy World Frog Day! Frogs are an important part of the complex web of life and a friend to the gardener (see last photo). #worldfrogday #youneedkermitmorethanheneedsyou
20.03.2025 20:10 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Male Common Frog numbers increased to 19 in our pond, just when I thought they would be lonely until next year, two clumps of frogspawn has appeared! @arc-trust.bsky.social #frogspawn
11.03.2025 21:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt like controlled burns. I helped the National Trust carry some out in 2019, the next day I was disgusted by the amount of dead reptiles, charred caterpillars & spiders, a burnt wood ants nest, dead shrews & voles on the burn site. Itβs awful for wildlife, yet they will argue it the other way.

24.02.2025 08:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Common Lizard Zootoca vivipara
Brilliant day in the New Forest, highlights were several Goshawks, Dartford Warbler, Woodlark, Hawfinch, Firecrests, Marsh Tit, 6 Crossbills, 3 Merlin, ringtail Hen Harrier, Red Admiral and my first Common Lizard of the year.
22.02.2025 19:16 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great work. Iβve been trying to grow Greater Tussock Sedge, have produced a few but not much luck with seed germination.

I really loved seeing Eastern Water Dragons in the parks and botanic gardens in Brisbane, Australia. Very impressive lizards up to 90cm long, they weren't bothered by people. They climb trees, are strong swimmers and can even sleep underwater. #AustralianWildlife #reptiles #WaterDragon
15.02.2025 20:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Here are some illustrations I created for the Biodivhubs project, showcasing measures to promote biodiversity in gardens. They're currently featured on signs in gardens across Munich and will soon be part of a catalog we're working on. Excited to share more soon! #Biodiversity #Illustration #SciArt
