I hear there’s another big influx of new folks happening here on @bsky.app. If you’re interested in cities and how to make them better, there’s a BIG, ACTIVE community here, biggest in social media. STARTER PACKS are great for finding people. Here’s my 1st of several, each with different themes.
10.01.2026 20:02 — 👍 66 🔁 19 💬 1 📌 0A brilliant little video from my neighbourhood in Bath about e-cargo bike riding. More and more people are finding these can replace a car (and especially second car) even in hilly areas. youtu.be/0ie0ne_hmOw?...
11.01.2026 15:54 — 👍 2 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0Map of the Netherlands that shows existing intercity routes (in green), planned and funded routes (in yellow), and routes now being planned for implementation (in gray) in the next 5 years.
The Dutch will double intercity bike routes in the next 5 years, from 1100 to 2300km.
Every city has local routes: Utrecht, for example, has 420km of separated bike lanes & bike streets. 𝘿𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨 allow people to safety go by bike throughout NL.

Such detail! Acknowledging benches as a tool for improving walking, cycling, wheeling and accessibility is enlightened systems thinking. Counterintuitively, benches encourage movement 🌞
17.12.2025 13:56 — 👍 4 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0In local transport, what kills or injures whom? Here's data for Bath and North Somerset from 2019-2023. Unfortunate to see car-pedestrian as the biggest circle. Cycles get a clean sweep. Data from national stats, gratefully compiled by @robintucker1.bsky.social @cyclinguk.bsky.social Oxfordshire

10.12.2025 21:48 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0If you're from a big Combined Authority (Manchester CA, West Midlands CA, South and West Yorkshire CAs, West of England CA), then rest assured they all got about £3/pp/yr. Perhaps ATE feel CAs have wider resources available from other settlements.

I think it makes good sense to fund places that put money to best uses, I made this chart shows how that policy play out in practice. www.gov.uk/government/p...

Minister meets Bikeability! 🚴
We are thrilled to welcome Local Transport Minister @liliangreenwood.bsky.social to Wantage Primary Academy to see Bikeability in action.
Thanks to @transportgovuk.bsky.social and every instructor & school for helping us reach every child with cycling.
The Welsh 20mph default reduced casualties by 25% and insurance costs by £90m. If done in England expect reductions of 15,000 casualties pa and insurance by £2bn pa. Implementation cost would be approx £0.5bn. For comparison, 1st yr depreciation on new cars registered in England in 2024 was £78bn
03.10.2025 06:03 — 👍 81 🔁 34 💬 6 📌 1Interesting, and given description of smart motorways, can evidence also attribute how many fewer people were injured by smart motorways? (or is the description just on aggerate SMs resulted in 'net +79 fatalities?)
