I basically never do this, but my favorite politician is running for congress and the earlier he gets your support the easier it is to budget his campaign. I just donated www.bradlanderforcongress.com

okay my latke theme this year is β€œwill it shred?” taking suggestions for non-potato foods I can shred in a food processor and then bind into a latke with egg and breadcrumbs (or similar)

I really want to agree you but I’m online enough and into politics enough that the Ryan Lizza post is astonishingly funny. I have been avoiding the rest of it

18.11.2025 04:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Is there a context for this because I agree in general

18.11.2025 03:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

because there are things in the simulation that can’t be computed (nonsense). you can simulate a turing machine all you want. you just can’t prove certain properties of it ahead of time. I didn’t citation chase, but they cited Penrose on consciousness, which is widely considered kookery

The physics here is over my head so very possible I don’t understand, but I think this is nonsense. The argument seems to be that ultimately physics is axiomatized into a sufficiently complex system such that incompleteness applies (sure) and that means we can’t be in a computational system

really starting to question his promise to not go to all the parades

Though it's true there's a 'Boomer bump' in early voters for the NYC mayoral election as reported by Gothamist etc., there's another large but less well-reported peak for voters in their late 20's and early 30's, as the data I got from the Board of Elections shows:

A reproduction of a NYC newsstand (named "Rex's Dino Store") but dinosaur-themed. The proprietor is a t-rex wearing a skeleton shirt, and the newspapers, magazines, and other goods on display are all dinosaur-related. There are bat and cobweb decorations hanging from the ceiling.

Closeup shot of some of the Halloween decorations. There's a mini dino skeleton figurine and a fake headstone that says "Kathy Kretacious / Sister Mother Raptor / Fell in a tar pit"

Another fake tombstone decoration that reads, "Izzy Iguanadon / Such a friendly tail / Insulted a T-Rex's arms." Behind it is a ceramic dinosaur figurine that mimics the maneki-neko (waving lucky cat) that often grace the entrances of businesses.

Artists Sarah Cassidy and Akiva Leffert worked together to turn an abandoned New York City subway newsstand into a "dinosaur bodega" art installation, complete with dinosaur-themed magazines, snacks and a "cave for rent" advertisement.
