In honor of #NationalPickleDay on Nov 14, we’re highlighting Ruby G. Strauss’s (1936–2016) miniatures installation, “Pickles and Egg Cream," where she brings to life scenes from her vivid memories of growing up in New York City in 15 different vignettes. Strauss began creating miniatures in 1989.

We were thrilled to once again welcome NYC Urban Sketchers to our campus this summer! Check out the gorgeous artworks inspired by views of the Hudson River and Palisades as well as works from the Museum's collection.

Happy Pride! A conserved sculpture, Memory Object, (1973) by gay artist, writer, social activist & cultural worker Stuart Edelman, who died of AIDS in 1995, has been reinstalled in the Museum. It was brought back to its high-polish, bronze finish with a grant from Greater Hudson Heritage Network.

Join Bronx artist Maya Ciarrocchi for Site: Yizkor, a free participatory workshop where attendees of all ages are invited to reflect on the vanished places in their lives through drawing, writing, storytelling, and bookmaking. For more info, visit derfner.org/programs/ R.S.V.P. required. 🎨
