Just read the history. Scotland was forced to join the union. The people were rioting in the streets. No one wanted it. Those that did were the rich making money out of it. They had troops on the border waiting in case they didn’t win the votes!

Read the article. The Darien debacle was a result of the pressures imposed on Scotland due to English sanctions and embargoes.
