CHARMM-GUI is a tool that makes preparing Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations easy. MD lets researchers simulate the motions and interactions of proteins, but the initial conditions need to be accurate for the results to be meaningful. This tool makes accurate starting bicelle structures for you!

For the curious:
Bicelles are mixtures of lipids and synthetic detergents. In the right ratios, the lipids will form a BI-layer and the detergents will form a mi-CELLE ring to protect the lipid tails. They can solubilize membrane proteins in experiments where lipid vesicles are too large, like NMR.
