Spike in phosphate level to 0.97 at our FOUW site 029 on Eign/Yazor brook. Brook has taken a beating - 2.5 weeks of no water flow. Yes in summer of 2022 when even more of the brook dried up. It it very strange - the Eign (one stretch of the Yazor) dries up before the stretches further upstream in the city.

Grim news - this excellent investigation by @tbij.bsky.social finds that millions in taxpayer's money is subsidising megafarms (and their attendant pollution). Deeply depressing.

Today we we were excited to find this stonefly larva while doing a riverfly survey in the Yazor Brook in the middle of Hereford. First time we have seen one in 6 years of surveys. They thrive in clean, fast-flowing, upland streams and rivers, and are sensitive to pollution. Is our brook improving?
