Gem of an album with at least two songs on a pair with Suede’s peerless first two LPs. Shame BB and BA didn’t keep it up, I always feel.

My favourite part of REM’s ‘Out of Time’ is Kate Pierson’s singing. It really is.

Altogether now: “The wonderful dexterity of Hannu Mikkola makes me want to shake hands with the whole of Finland".

I love that first track so much. It seems to lope into view, stutter and drawl, but leave you with hope.
