I had this on tape. The drums on ‘Where Eagles Dare’ are thunderously brilliant. And that outro on ‘The Flight of Icarus’…

Protest takes many forms. The tracks here are interspersed with recordings of how DJs introduced them on air.

Only 3 moths this morning. 3 Hebrew Characters. Thought I would give them appropriate names before release.

“They shout ‘Give us our fair share’” is a line that should be played to every warpig on repeat.

It took 4 days, across 2 weeks, more eggs than I remember (but less than the recipe said), 4 complete disasters, but we finally made something that looks like an eclair, if you squint your eyes and ignore the mess…

Tomorrow night!

A line-up that would grace any of the top festivals in the country, except we're bringing it to you for free...!

Another of today’s wonderful moths. Red Chestnut… although a little early (?).

I have never heard anything like ‘Fairytale in the Supermarket’: it works by its own rules.

Not a huge haul. And one ?. But I am very happy to see moths again.

Sometimes the subtlest things are the most beautiful things. Just want to look at these two all day.

The March Moth. First of the year on the outside of the light trap (obviously…). My daughter has just pointed out that it must have lost its calendar.

Oh yeah, no common shit there. That and the sodding avocados, which are probably loose leaf, too.

I rather got the impression that the truth may be more akin to a diet of All
Bran, out of season fruit and despair-bread made in a bread-making machine from packets in Waitrose.

Hope is a marvellous thing - experience cannot dim it. Rain cannot soak it. The weather forecast can’t put it off. First time for the moth trap for ‘26.

To be honest, I don’t even think she lives like this. These sorts of texts all have green tea in. Gives green tea a bad name.

Transportational. ‘Son of a gun’ has this quality that a lot of brilliant songs have: of compelling you to join in on the second half of every line of the chorus.

Met this guy today. It wanted me to create ‘content’ for its streaming platform for no remuneration or plausible benefit or cultural value.

The thing that impresses me is that you knew the band was bad in the dream. And there is a sense of grandeur!

I dreamt last night I had to teach Bruce Dickinson to use finger puppets because Iron Maiden had fallen on hard times and their special effect budget had been cut.

Agreed. But don’t they also run like footstools that have recently lost a lot of weight, but have had to pull on an old, slightly shabby coat in a hurry?

Shangri La is such a sleeper in the subconscious - liked it more and more and more over time. “All the houses in the street have a name/ but all the houses in the street they look the same.” Biting.

Gem of an album with at least two songs on a pair with Suede’s peerless first two LPs. Shame BB and BA didn’t keep it up, I always feel.

My favourite part of REM’s ‘Out of Time’ is Kate Pierson’s singing. It really is.

Three copies of Steve Ely's 'Eely' against an orange background.

Three copies of Steve Ely's 'Eely' against an orange background.

Somewhere in Tethys’ salty darkness,
in spurts of milt and billowing roe, eels
are birthing their posterity, a spore-storm of eggs
in uncountable centillions, each buoyed
on its micron of oil.

I love that first track so much. It seems to lope into view, stutter and drawl, but leave you with hope.
