Of course a higher price tag would tend to be attached to a doll rare enough to be a grail, but to a point I would be happily willing to pay an outrageous price for a rare doll from the 80s. The problem is that this doll gets above $500 which is insanely outrageous

I consider my personal grail to be a doll that I genuinely love but is damn near impossible to find, though I don't have any problem with people who apply the term more loosely. My grail is a Ranze Eto doll from Tokimeki Tonight. I don't usually go for TV character dolls but this is my fav anime!
