Same. That cover did it for me. I got hooked on Todd over the summer with The Assassin Nation Plot. It‘s funny because I was obsessed with Batman that summer but I don’t remember loving any of those comics until A Lonely Place of Dying. I had some amazing Joker high tops though

What an awesome cover. I read this so many times. I bought it at Little Professor, an independent bookstore in a local strip mall, right next to Ames. There was a comic store in there but it had closed a few months earlier

I miss buying comics at the gas station. I got GI Joe #76 earlier that same summer of 88 at a gas station on a family vacation. I probabaly read it ten times. I think I memorized the Metal Gear ad. Great issue.

Man that BWS story is incredible. I remember really enjoying the X-Team flashbacks. The black and yellow was sharp. I like what Morrison did with Weapon X, but I like everything they do. And I do love Fantomex. As a GI Joe/John Woo Stan, how could I not love a Storm Shadow/Chow Yun Fat mashup

She’s so great on 90210. It‘s insane that Alicia Silverstone didn’t get nominated for Best Actress. I‘m legitimately still mad about this

Just to add, for nostalgia’s sake, I bought GI Joe #80 off the spinner rack at the Fredericktown Mall Walden Books a week before I started fifth grade. It was the same day I bought the Def Leppard Hysteria tape. What a time to be alive

That was a really eye catching cover. Maybe Claremont was the only person capable of juggling Wolverine’s continuity. Maverick was pretty cool but I don’t remember whether or not he’s in this issue

Come to think of it, I wasn‘t super fond of his Batman run either. He‘s somehow better when facing a ridiculous ultimatum. GI Joe #80 is still one of my favorite comics. He’s tasked with introducing a new line of Joes and three new vehicles yet manages to write an awesome single issue story
