i am aware of the history of winamp and have closely followed what llama group was up to

it makes no sense to continue this conversation as we're talking past each other

they're offering 5.9.2, that's the current latest release of winamp

"Legacy Player" strictly means the windows version and not their crappy spotify clone, neither 1.00 or 2.0 weighed this much in terms of filesize

the aforementioned legacy version has that "NFT Library" and "Fanzone" crap in its media library 🙂

quick sidenote on this: that version of winamp wont receive any future updates and has "NFT" support, but if it plays your mp3s then ignore what i said

translating winamp to smartphones is nigh impossible as everyone has different meanings for it (do you want skins, do you want it translated on mobile UIs, do you also want a plugins system somehow?), so a true winamp on phones is impossible, but its possible to get close to it

and their latest stunt with that was "open sourcing" winamp on github, which was in reality Source Available and they made it very clear they only wanted people to do their work for them, for free

they do still offer winamp for windows but it's also been seemingly killed off late 2023 after the guy who knew the codebase either left on his own terms or was let go, that isnt known

to explain a bit more about this, winamp is owned by llama group since 2014 and only within the last ~5 years or so did they try to turn the winamp brand into a spotify clone with "NFT" features, obviously being already very late to the trend

of course a windows 7 holdout says this
