Old TV with ghosting (misaligned duplicate image) with Roy Jay appearing on the Little & Large show 31/12/83.
Eddie Large is in the same arrow prison outfit as Roy. Syd Little is in a beige jumper with a zig zag pattern.

Just saw the new Naked Gun and itโs terrific. Laser targeted at the culturally sophisticated and politically liberal/left 35-50ish demographic. Possibly therefore the first movie made for Bluesky users. See it in a cinema full of laughing weirdos just like you.

Still from the 1941 film "Love on the Dole", with the unfortunate subtitle "She's a strange lassie's arsehole".
Catastrophic subtitling on the 1941 movie "Love on the Dole".
(It should read "She's a strange lass, is our Sal"...)

This map shows how enormous Doggerland, which was inhabited by hunter-gatherers for a very long time, once was.
Around 16,000 BC, it still surrounded the British Isles. By around 7,000 BC, it had already become much smaller.

Spent the weekend reading this by @hwam.bsky.social and I thought it was good. Lots of little humorous tangents and diversions in the vein of Douglas Adams, making me wonder if this is what the Pirate Planet or Shada Targets wouldโve been like. A nice homage and a fun read.

Plushy mole reading a nature sign next to a hedge:
โCommon Mole, Talpa europaea.
These short, stocky mammals are rarely seen above ground, unless they are collecting grass and leaves for nesting material. They have solld black hairy bodies, narrow pink snouts, tiny eyes and a short tall.
Their front legs are short and point outwards, so the huge claws can dig easily Into the soll.
Moles live solitary lives, in a system of underground tunnels and chambers they have dug out. Both sexes are similar in appearance, and only meet up during the breeding season.
A tell-tale sign that they are present are the
'molehills' - mounds of earth they leave behind.
HABITAT: Loose-soiled meadows, gardens and fields. Anywhere earthworms are present.
SOUND: Silent
DIET: Earthworms and small insects.
OFFSPRING: Two litters of between two and five young are produced during spring and early summer.
SIZE: Adults can grow to 15cm In length.โ
Hence the name โ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฑ๐ข ๐๐ช๐ง๐ค๐ฅ๐๐๐โ

Good discussion of pros & cons. Itโs easier to start with *something* rather than a blank piece of paper. If AI helps some get started thatโs one thing, but the perception being hard sold to us is AI can then do it all for you. Itโs the second part that is the worry. Doctorowโs enshittification.

One regulatory change I'd like to see around AI is the requirement that it has to tell you it's AI if you directly ask it.
Hard code that shit in and do not let anyone running a chatbot prompt their way out of it... or face massive fines.

We are looking at a large room with a chapel in the background, it is divided by an oak screen with pointed arches. Sun streams through an unseen window creating misty hazy light and long shadows on the stone flagged floor of the room.
The chapel was built in 1411 and the screen you see dates in part back to that time.
It acted as a divider between the almshouse and the spiritual space beyond.
