A weekend chock-full of author talks, book signings and panel discussions, celebrating the art of writing about film.

Returning to LFF for Free for its second year, now in its new home at the BFI Reuben Library, Film in Print is a celebration of writing about film – from the ever-thriving world of magazines to the rise of new authors whose books are filling shelves around the country.

Across a whole weekend of conversations and discussions, Film in Print shines the spotlight on this vital corner of the industry: hearing from the key players both on the page and behind the scenes, examining the trends and topics found between the covers, and lifting the lid on the art and craft of writing about cinema.

There's a big piece over at The Observer asking that billion-yen question: What next for Studio Ghibli?

Studio Ghibli’s Majestic Sensibility Is Drawing Imitators

Oh!

@ghibliotheque.bsky.social and @michaeljleader.bsky.social in today's New York Times!!!

"It is more common for games to superficially crib from the studio’s visual qualities, said Michael Leader, host of the β€œGhibliotheque” podcast"

Is that a first for both?

Happy birthday to Studio Ghibli. In these confusing times, it's needed more than ever to provide a place where dreams and nightmares can find their balance. Long may its works endure.

Last week I went to the ZlΓn Film Festival and it was a blast!

Big crowds of youngsters mingling with filmmakers and industry folk, watching films and responding with infectious enthusiasm.

I gave a lecture on the theme of youth in the films of Hayao Miyazaki, and introduced a bunch of films, too.
