Alaska Environment State Director, nature enthusiast, Anchorage is home, casual runner and skier, posts are my own.
Anchorage's own Girl Scout Troop 436 is working to get plastic glitter out of Anchorage Schools. This would be good for our water, good for kids health, and good for wildlife. See how you can help below:

25.06.2025 23:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The next iteration of the proposed public land sale would be BLM land within 5 miles of a "population center":
For folks in Anchorage- that would be the Campbell Tract. Don't sell our public lands.
Alaska has an opportunity to improve its net metering policy through HB 164 and SB 150, which will make rooftop solar even more cost effective, leading to more renewable energy. environmentamerica.org/alaska/updat...

22.04.2025 19:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was catching up on some AK Leg energy committee hearings today and some concerns about birds and windmills came up. Here is a quick read on this:

08.04.2025 16:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes! And not have to worry about losing any functions. It's a classic thing to stop being able to view battery health with a new battery or losing face id with a new screen etc
08.04.2025 14:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I once replaced my phone screen with a 3rd party self-repair kit. I watched videos how to do it.
It would be amazing to be able to do that with the actual tools and parts for appliances.
Alaska's Right to Repair Bill- the Digital Product Repair Act has hearings in both the senate and the house today. Let your legislators know that you want the freedom to fix your own stuff or patronize someone in your local community:

Whoohoo! HB 25 which will get rid of foam foodware containers in Alaska is on the move. Polystyrene foam is one of the gnarliest of the plastics, and it will be good for our own health and the health of our wildlife to see it gone. Tell your legislators to pass it!
15.03.2025 00:22 β π 23 π 4 π¬ 2 π 1We had a great first hearing in akleg on the Digital Product Repair Act, SB 111, which is our Right to Repair bill. Folks should let their legislators know they want this either by giving them a call or sending a quick email:
