No parent should ever have to live in fear of the content their children may see.
The Molly Rose Foundations βRoadmap for a better online futureβ can be found on their website and I highly recommend reading it.
A blanket ban is not the solution to making our online sphere safer, we must not allow social media companies to forget their responsibility.
It was an honour to talk to Ian Russell about the steps needed to make the online world safer.
Image of a ballot box surrounded by hands with the text βLabour is protecting our democracyβ.
Labour is protecting our democracy.
Foreign actors should not be able to influence what happens at the ballot box β we want democracy that works and delivers for the British people.
The Representation of the People Bill will keep foreign interference out of our democracy.
We must not let social media companies evade responsibility for promoting harmful content within their algorithms.

This week I shared the results of my Milton Keynes online safety survey in the Chamber.
Young people are being faced with dangers on so many different platforms from Roblox to Facebook and it is vital that we ensure they can navigate the online sphere as safely as possible.

Young people deserve to feel unconditionally safe when navigating the online sphere and companies must be held accountable for pushing harmful content within their algorithms.
A huge thank you to the Molly Rose Foundation for campaigning so hard on the changes we need for social media sites.

I will continue to use my voice in Parliament and within Milton Keynes to stand up for Hong Kongers and speak against transnational repression.
The Hong Kong Community in Milton Keynes are so important to our city.
Picture of a letter from Minister for Migration and Citizenship, Mike Tapp. The letter discusses the proposed changes to BNO visa holders and the consultation on the matter that recently closed. It also reiterates the Governments support for Hong Kongers.
This week myself and those who wrote to the Minister for Migration and Citizenship surrounding changes to BNO visa holders have received a response.
Iβm glad that the Government is committed to supporting Hong Kongers in the UK.
The PM has announced that all social media firms must remove non-consensual βintimate imagesβ within 48 hours of a report or face being banned in the UK.
Yet again showing that tech companies arenβt too big or powerful to be held accountable for being complicit in violence against women and girls.

Emily stood with students at Oakgrove School.
Last Friday I met with Politics students at Oakgrove School for a great discussion about the issues that matter to them.
From voting at 16-17 to the role of AI and interference in our elections β it was great to hear from our next generation on how we should be addressing these!
Labour Party graphic of a phone on a yellow background with the text: βNew plans to keep kids safe onlineβ.
Our children deserve a digital future that is as safe as possible.
Iβm glad to see this government taking important steps to make that a reality, from tackling AI chatbots to looking into features on social media platforms such as live streaming which can pose a risk to young people.
