Sometimes speaking out about issues in academia feels like talking to an ostrich with its head in the sand. This is how Robin's character development goes away well

Slide 2: What and Who is This Post For? This post is a reminder for us all on how to respectfully participate in the Trans Rights Readathon, whether this is your first time on bookish social media, you are an ally, or you simply have any hesitation on the “right” way to participate respectfully.
Slide 3: DON’T OUT AUTHORS. First and foremost, the Trans Rights Readathon supports trans folks and wants to minimize harm to real people. In years past, authors have felt pressured and obligated to out themselves to readers in order to be included in the Readathon. Because we never want to forcibly out an author, we promote books that are written by trans+ authors OR feature trans+ main characters. Do not ask or pressure authors to disclose details of their identity that are not already public.
Slide 4: Think Before You Review (especially if you are cisgender!) Before you rate a book negatively, ask yourself: • Is there a reason I “don’t relate” to this story? • What is my intention in posting a negative review right now? Can it wait a few weeks? • What are my trans peers saying about this same book? Especially ask yourself these questions for intersectional trans stories, such as books by BIPOC authors if you are a white reader.
