I've looked at a lot of resumes for aspiring translators and everytime I notice they have the relevant experience but they don't make it clear, meaning vendors are more likely to overlook them as potential freelancers.

51. Bakuman (vol. 1-10, so first half)

Finished the first half in transit. Since it reads like a pitch to sell working for Jump, a lot of extra text is stuffed in to justify everyone's arguments as being "from a good place," so the tension rings dull. The background art rocks. Will revisit later!

50. Superman

Saw this as a plus-one in theaters. It was nicer than I'd anticipated. I like the short runtime, but I think Clark's human parents needed a few more questions and a little more airtime (like a teen flashback) to really bundle the intro and the outro.

49. Manga-ka Debut Monogatari: Suteki na Manga wo Egakou (3DS)

As some folks here have likely heard me say, I think games/manga aimed at young girls are great for practicing Japanese. (Ciao, Nakayoshi, Ribon, etc).
I read aloud as I played, but tasks are remedial and the characters are all darling!

48. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

This incarnation of Zelda is really darling! Her pet "cat" is also a real creature. I wish you could interact and get more storyline with your loftwing, but I like floating island anything. The ost is whimsical too.

The controls are SO nasty though! Grr! GRR!

I don't have screenshots at the moment, but Normmatt gave me a TON of wiggle room to squeeze story text in. Graphics are a little tighter, given the console in quesriom, but I think we were able to title the levels with appropriate workarounds. I'll make a note to post to Bluesky later!

47. Nights With a Cat (vol. 4 & 5)

Fell behind on the series as the comic store that held the preorder never really got them in.

Got really excited any time Kyuruga opened his mouth or made a funny face that got transparently pasted on the page. Very cute additions to the shelf!

46. Ciao Illustration Club

I love art academy games for the NDS/3DS thanks to my addiction to the freeware Colors on the former. The layers and eraser system in this game does exist, but they're not as intuitive. I liked getting a sense for how to use screentones and will practice more of that.

It's my first Mother and remains my preferred one of the three. I think any of the final boss battles in the series are doomed to precede most else of the story/get spoiled to heck, but Mother 3 has such a narrative character focus inbetween, you're robbing yourself not to play it

45. Evolution: Eternal Dungeons

I don't have the post game in me for now, but it was nice revisiting the world of Evolution.

I used to write off the typos in the script as typos, but looking at it now--and without looking it up--it's fun to wonder if this was translated by an JP-native ESL writer.

44. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Master Quest

Dungeons always feel streamlined in favor of, "Hey we heard you like Din's Fire--" "Hey you liked fighting exactly two Stalfos at a time" or puzzles are meta/demistifying cheap shots.
Did beat the hideout with no bow+hookshot so that was fun.

Yeah, it being a game trope makes sense but my brain was NOT firing in this direction lmao
