This world would be a better place if each spoke different levels of franca lingua, based on territorial relationships:
1. Global
2. Regional
3. Local
4. Familial
Mine would be: (1) Standardized English, (2) Laurentien French and LSQ, (3) Kanien'kéha and (4) Southern Vietnamese.

Home is where my soul rests when the world's tide shifts. I see those restful sailors who swing in their rocking ship, and, in their hammocks, hundreds of knots. I see culture tied to structures. Cities to people. Dwellings as poetry.

If a high-speed train would one day connect MTL, 3-R and QC, then 3-R would turn into a suburb. This happened to the towns around London in the UK. One way to offset such a phenomenon would be to build off-market housing and high-density rent-controlled commercial area around the train station.

I remember occupying the street to play hockey with my nextdoor cousins and I can't stop thinking of the influence of urban planning on family structures. Imagine if cities were designed for resilience by decreasing the amount of childcare planning and maximizing safe spontaneous child interactions.

What if we'd build housing, third places and neighbourhoods with the creation of "Sense of Community" (SOC) as a psychological key performance indicator? The closest thing to this are segregated religious communities, but what would a secular equivalent look like?

Pièce de théâtre
Huguette Gaulin
This week, I saw a play about self-immolation as a form of protest. The play echoed an event in 1972, when a poet and ecologist named Huguette Gaulin, 28, walked in the Montreal Old Port and shouted "YOU HAVE DESTROYED ALL BEAUTY IN THIS WORLD" before turning into ashes. Did the world change?

Why aren't insurance companies non-profit cooperatives rather than for-profit companies? It doesn't make sense to me.

Imagine if developmental psychology was a mandatory topic to learn in order to take care of children. Being a good parent is not a character trait. Parenting takes resources, knowledge and capacity. Make those available for all. 🏘️
