I didn't say he was in favour of Scottish indy. He has said clearly that it's a decision for us to make & that we are entitled to a referendum if we want it.

He has clearly stated on a number of occasions that Scotland has the right to determine its own future & hold an indy ref if that's what it wants.i.e. if the Scottish Parliament votes to have one.

Recent Westminster politicians have referred to a "voluntary union" not through any commitment to the concept but because it was politically expedient to do so.

It was never meant to be a voluntary union of course. The Speaker of the English Parliament at the time of the Union specifically said that the Scots had been caught in a web, where they would "dangle for all eternity". They also highlighted that the Scots members in Westminster would be ridiculed.
