Right now we're burning a lot of extra energy with "reasoning models" where you use the power of language to get the LLM to solve problems. But it seems obvious that more traditional computation is better than we are for LOTS of problems. So it's more or less inevitable that it gets brought back in.

One idea at a time is usually a good approach with rhetoric. If you give an opponent 3 ideas, they'll engage with the weakest of the three and the other two wind up having negligible impact.

Just hit them with one idea and everyone will leave with that idea.

Ultimately, LLMs are going to be the language processing modules in larger code assemblies that have other modules for things like counting and math. But I have no sense of how far off this is.

If you start from the assumption that LLMs are really made to do one core thing: writing English sentences, it will be easier to predict what they'll be good at.

As it turns out, counting words and letters is something they're very bad at.

I think emphasizing the fact that these people are obsessive freaks is stronger.
