Brief shoutout to this awesome little channel I discovered recently! Theyโ€™re doing an entire video series recreating the history of life on Earthโ€ฆwith plushies! Theyโ€™re currently up to the early Permian.

Really neat and creative stuff. Definitely worth checking out!

Unfortunately, I didn't watch one horror movie a day for October just like last year, but I'm going to celebrate Halloween by recommending some nice little cult classic horror films for y'all to watch on this particularly spooky day since I'm in the mood for it.

Happy Halloween!

A gathering of witches circled around a cauldron. Mary Anne Spier is stirring the cauldron, to her left is Kristy Thomas excited to cut open a frog. Dawn Schafer is pouring a potion in, Stacey Mcgill holding a tray of potions, and Logan Bruno is carrying some extra firewood.
To Mary Anne's right, Claudia is conjuring a spell for the cauldron, Mallory is holding a black cat that is puking up a hairball into the cauldron, and Jessie Ramsey is inspecting a handful of herbs before dumping it into the cauldron.

this should be considered a victory for evidence and proper evaluation of data and science. But I'm sure it'll be considered as vindication that wanting something to be true and arm waving about what someone else said they measured on a specimen no one else had seen, gave the *right* answer.

I'm pretty confident that certain online people are going to be cheering about how they were right all along on Nanotyrannus. Their take will be that they were right all along and their arguments, based on private specimens of uncertain provenance, photos of things without scale bars, and ideas...

Researchers discover new tyrannosaur species in โ€˜duelling dinosaursโ€™ fossil Analysis of Montana fossils shows the battling predator was a fully grown Nanotyrannus, not a young T rex

Nanotyrannus is real.

For years Iโ€™ve considered many mid-sized gracile tyrannosaurs to be juvenile T. rex.

But I was wrong. This stunning new skeleton of a mature long-armed small tyrannosaur is clearly a different species.

Isnโ€™t science fun?!

Just in time for spooky season: DINOSAUR "MUMMIES!"

Unlike Egyptian mummies, these don't have squishy bits preserved, but the rock around these carcasses had clay capturing texture of scales, a midline crest w/ keratin spikes, &, brand new, feet w/ hooves! ๐Ÿงชโš’๏ธ๐Ÿฆ•๐Ÿฆ–

Walking in the footsteps ofโ€ฆgiant Carboniferous trees?

Some 325 million years ago these coal swamp trees were so heavy they made โ€˜tree printsโ€™ in the soft coral-infused limestone under the soil.

And today we saw them on our University of Edinburgh undergrad trip to Barns Ness!
