Up until the onset of my period at age 13, I had no reason to think that 'My Lady Garden' might cause me the most debilitating, dysphoric and traumatic 23 years of my life. Period product ad's seemed fun and carefree (wink) - my experience was far from chocolate and wheat bags. Let Her Die This represents the stage I am now at after menstruating for 23 years and being diagnosed with PCOS at 34. The dark, ashy colours and rough textures are intended to communicate how tiresome having a uterus and vagina is for me and how long I've been begging Doctors, that I do not wish for a life of pain and trauma due to a faulty uterus "just in case" I "want to be a mother someday." She [Uterus] has been begging to die, contorting, burrowing, scratching, stabbing and hemorrhaging to get out and be laid to rest. The joint further adds to the pure exhaustion and need for medication to continue its [Uterus] futile existence OR perhaps it's a celebration of a well-earned retirement.
