Our 2025 storm chase course concluded today. Overall we drove 3500 miles over 8 days, visited six states, and had several great chase days. Wish we could have been in the panhandle region the last few days, but it was still a successful trip and we made the most of the opportunities we had.

Day 4 summary - Put ourselves in good position in south central Oklahoma. Chased some promising looking supercells between Lawton and Loco but the road network and terrain eventually betrayed us.

Day 5 is a down day for us. Toured the NWC and are now heading east to Arkansas.

Day 3 summary - good day in the DFW area. Saw several supercells including this one as it passed over the Brazos River near Morgan, TX.

But, that decision limits our options today. Currently targeting northwestern Oklahoma.

Day 2 recap - observed some weak convection in south central and southeast Kansas. After a bedbug scare at a gross hotel in Coffeyville we ended up back near Tulsa for the night.

Day 2 of our storm chase is going…not great. Dew point is dropping and the instability is fading. Sitting on this convergence boundary in south central Kansas hoping something breaks through.

Today was a travel day but we were able to stop and visit the Joplin tornado memorial on the way to our hotel.

NWS Louisville doesn’t have enough staffing to cover NWS surveys. They now have to verify tornadoes via social media pictures.

I am once again reminding everyone how awful Louisville is at handling tornado warnings. Not only are sirens blaring across the entire city for a localized threat, but @univeristyoflou.bsky.social is advising everyone to take shelter even though the threat is nowhere near any of their campuses.
