Oh yeah, there were people doing worse and earlier, but it's the way steam figured out how to make it palatable for people and excusable. Nowadays people see them as a normal part of an online game experience when it never really should be like that and I feel like Valve directly contributed to it

I've never been super into Valve when I realized they are the ones who popularized and essentially invented the modern-day loot boxes.

Something that has had resoundingly negative effects on gaming as a whole and people just seem to give them a free pass cause Gaben Sales God. It's like, Nah lol.
