The chateau in Žamberk (Senftenberg) and the castle garden, where the observatory stood from which Brorsen discovered two comets, C/1851 P1 and C/1851 U1. A nice place to visit, the garden is freely accessible. The chateau currently houses a secondary school.

Any information about the visual prediscovery of comet C/1978 T1? Was K. Cernis unaware when he observed it visually before oficial discovery?

Symbolizuje ochranu.

Surprise! A bright new comet is entering darker skies, with a relatively close approach with Earth (~0.25 AU) in October! Read more about this discovery (provisionally designated SWAN25B) in my latest blog post! 😄
