I look forward to reading this - I hired a bike in Lisbon a couple of years ago and was terrified cycling between the kerb, the potholes and the tramlines!!! But the rental bikes were incredibly well geo-fenced, ground to a dead halt if you were out of the range booked.

Every one-way street in NL is bi-directional for cycling. Many in France too. Seems to work. But then driving speeds are so much slower 30k =circa 18mph.

I use it all the time to go to Rotterdam, just a shame St P is wholly inadequate for the no of passengers, the train seating now smells awful, the on board info videos are childish/ useless, the wifi doesn;t work other than that a great way to travel -cept it is often way too expensive for most.
