Real tragedy of commons stuff right there.
It’s the space needle thinking we’ve been hearing so much about.
I’ve fell for engaging in accelerate away from danger discourse before, but overtake away from danger? Come on man.
“The photo shows I’m caught unaware of the school zone signs because I was responding to text.”
Saw a car going through a school speed zone and the lights flashed. Almost felt bad for the driver, but then as they drove by they were fully on their phone. There should be a camera for that too.
Just gotta find the switch that controls it.
Self portrait.
Is it heavier than my gravel bike? Yes. Is it slower? Also yes. But watching steel forks flex a little going over rough stuff is sublime.
Yesterday, as I approached this intersection, the RFBs were activated and a middle school kid biking to Aki was waiting to cross. 3 cars just cruised on through. Come on people.
Mr Gorbachev, move and permanently affix this barrier at the correct location.
This is so good!
Also, I’ll chip in to get the state senator a replacement rear fender.
Enjoy yourself!
I mean, driving on a highway, or at highways speeds, is putting your life in someone else’s hands too.
Also, you can’t park there, mate.
As someone who was on the bike side of the barrier multiple times this week, thank you for your service, barrier 🫡
Remind me to check back in on this in a few days.

5/ ..the hwy back to Wisconsin Ave.... but as organizers worked together across the whole city, their strategy changed. They realized each new inch of highway increased the pressure to build the rest of it (that "highway ending onto a city block" problem) and they came up with this new slogan.
1/ The person in 1968 who held this poster helped give us a robust metro system and preserve DC/MD neighborhoods. This is from @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social's collection of Emergency Committee on the Transportation Crisis materials - a local anti-highway movement.

Same bike, different day, same bs.
I was gonna say.
I'm listening into this meeting and am quite frustrated by what I'm hearing from callers; "why punish the 95% of good drivers by making them drive slower?"
People have died here numerous times.
Johnny Cash had more songs about trains than trucks. Just sayin'.
Totally unhinged driving still seems up according to my eyes too.
4. My constant moaning and whinging about traffic safety.
Goddam right on red.
(Obligatory nice Ritchey!)
I sincerely hope everyone was ok and that everyone waiting at the bus stop told the driver they can't park there.
Meh. If driver has to go well above the speed limit to overtake, they can simply not overtake and they'll still get where they are going.
If the tech overlord class was serious about using AI to usher in a post-scarcity era of abundance, they would be taking this opportunity to pitch three day workweeks and universal basic income.
Instead, it’s mass layoffs while they bloviate about ‘superintelligence.’
I don’t buy it.

Gravel bike on patch of gravel.
The garmin-iPhone thing is very annoying. Seconded.
