The study found that children attending childcare near major roads are exposed to pollution levels equiv. to 8 cigarettes a day.

No parent should have to worry that the air their child breathes at childcare could harm their health.

When burned overseas, these exports result in 1.1 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year – almost three times Australia’s domestic emissions. Dozens more plants and animals added to Australia’s endangered lists The list now includes a charismatic possum, a flightless fly and a glossy skink.

The new threatened species include the lemuroid ringtail possum of north Qld, which is highly vulnerable to global warming. As temperatures rise, the possums are forced to live at higher and higher elevations on their mountain homes in the Wet Tropics rainforests. www.theage.com.au/environment/...

With every new coal mine they approve, the Albanese government is burning our future and burning their own credibility. The government must commit to a clear plan and a timeline for the phase-out of fossil fuels, including exports.
