I was born and then things went downhill from there. I talk about different things to avoid becoming boring. I'm an old guy who loves new stuff. Science & technology intrigue me. I enjoy strategy games and it shapes how I view problems.

I remember the old Chromebooks talking about a future where we'd have "a computer that will fit inside a suitcase and have 8mb of RAM"
It might seem counter-intuitive, but let me tell you, going from being the most educated person at a party to the least educated person there is actually awesome.
It's a chance to learn for free, and it gives me hope that humans just might make it.

I grew up watching Cosmos alongside NOVA. By age 15, I was reading "The Dancing Wu Li Masters."
Sadly, I was also growing up in Florida - a place infamous for detesting everything cerebral.
Now living in Michigan, I can enjoy the company of people with functional brains.
I spend most of my free time reading.

You really can't move the goalposts out of my reach, sorry.
TL;DR Sure, I can (and do) tell the program to ignore everything it reads on Reddit, and to only reference actual peer-reviewed science papers, but I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.

Train entirely on science magazines, philosophical lectures, real history and legitimate news articles instead of saying "Here's the Internet, go ahead and eat everything you see" because that's how you end up with guys RFK and Joe Rogan... and we all know how well that turned out.

The problem with data scraping is that it's like trawler nets. You get some tuna but you also get a lot of broken bottles, too. Human made toxic waste like 4Chan & suicide forums existed decades before LLMs and if that sewage ends up in your training data... well, GIGO. Grok is proof of that.

A very basic metric for the health of any economy is this:
The more production is aimed at providing for the masses, the healthier the economy.
The more production is aimed at only providing to the elites, the weaker the economy.

Here's some bees playing with toys.
OK, whoever these meatbots are, they're comically stupid.
Me: "Here is a recipe for a good vegetarian lasagna."
Cultist: "ChatGPT isn't sentient."
Me: "I never said it was, and what does this have to do with lasagna?"
Cultist: "I is super smurt becuze magic."
Me: "You are blocked. Bye."
Apparently some luddite cult leader has sent their flock of brainless lemmings to dogpile this thread with endless crap about AI & chatbots even though it clearly says JANE GOODALL and CHIMPANZEES right there.
What a bunch of morons.
I never said it was. OP is about the sentience of apes & chimps. My point was the same - if an animal can demonstrate equal or greater intelligence than a newborn human, which you say is sentient, then they are too.
Sorry, but you luddite cult leader sent you dogpile the wrong thread. Go home.
WTF are you talking about?
The OP was talking about whether apes & chimps are sentient and so am I.
Go back to your luddite cult leader and tell her that she sent you to dogpile the wrong thread.
A serious ongoing issue on the Left is constantly trying to pigeon-hole everyone into two neat little boxes labeled "victims" and "oppressors."
Open a history book. Everybody has been fucked over by someone else at some point in history, and everybody has fucked over someone else in return.
It's good to see someone actually thinking instead of just making faith-based assertions.
Now let's compare a six month old human to a six month old cat. The difference between development and potential development. Smaller potential generally develops faster, yes? But it caps out sooner, too.
