Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about myself if it weren't for the fact that so many of the people I have worked with over the years have gone on to bigger and better things while I've been laid off at least 9 times in my career. I'm happy for them, but it makes me feel like crap. #jaded #cynical

I went to the Edmonds Chess Club get-together earlier this evening. I haven't played against another person since prehistoric times lol. I played vs another haven't-played-in-a-long-time player and lost the first game, but then we switched colors and I won. Was both weird and cool to play again!

Maybe the reason that no alien civilizations ever make contact with each other is because before they can do so each one invents AGI which ends up killing all the people, and the AGI doesn't want any other alien AGIs knowing that it exists, so it doesn't communicate.

Just finished watching season 2 of #Arcane. It was a bit more "wtf" and "really?" than season 1 (perhaps a lot more) but still very VERY good. I'm not a huge anime fan, but the art style + the music + voice acting worked perfectly together. I honestly thought it could have ended after S1 though.

In some ways it is. A couple days ago, I made a micro-app without writing a single line of code - just a couple AI prompts. Word is that AI is "replacing" entry-level developers because it can do a better job than they can. I fear AI is getting better faster than people can upskill to keep up.
