Sometimes I think about what got me into being a babyfur and I remember seeing this pic on Wikifur when doing Wikipedia deep dives back in the day. It just really resonated with me and it's what being a babyfur is to me. It's just being treated like a kid again and it's just a normal thing.

If you claim to love someone who collects toys or watches cartoons or does something else "for kids" but want them to grow up and change the "childish" behavior/hobbies/interests you don't really love them, you love an idea of them, a version of them you've created and decided is better.

It occurred to me that small children don't really know when to quit, don't really stop themselves from trying things, and somewhere along the line growing, a fear kinda creeps in. A fear of failure. I wanna get back into that baby mindset of being possible of doing anything.

I guess it's something I should've seen as a possibility earlier on though. Like I've asked myself why do I always relate to the fictional characters who are seen as idealistic, naive, and representing being stuck in childhood in some way. Gee, I wonder.

But compared to so many of my peers I just feel like I'm so far behind developmentally, and there's so many milestones I've yet to reach, and some I'm even losing. It scares me deeply because I don't know what this could mean for my future when I've been so late to growing up.

Been coming to terms with the fact that I really haven't had the chance to grow up, and possibly being age stunted as a result of developmental disability and trauma. It's honestly scary because I don't necessarily want to be this way, I want to be an adult and be taken seriously as one.

It's love. For some, the love of your life is in the corner of a boring furcon panel room -- even if they don't have the same "interests," it's care that bridges the gap.
