Currently, eating disorder services do not collect consistent routine data, which means we have limited knowledge of the effectiveness of care.

Funded by us, a new study has identified a standardised dataset to be collected by a clinical research network in the UK, EDCRN (@edcrn.bsky.social). [1/3]

📚 For our next EDCRN journal club, authored by a member of our Lived Experience Advisory Board, we read about the PEACE Pathway – an autism-informed approach to ED care.

🌱This month, we’re diving into the Full of Beans podcast hosted by Hannah Hickinbotham. Hannah is joined by Dr Jessica Murphy to explore long-term physical/mental effects of EDs in adulthood, and treatment changes needed to better support all ages.

With the right support, a life beyond the all-encompassing nature of an eating disorder is possible.

To make this a reality, we need faster, more equitable access to high-quality treatment. We need to understand what works for who and the different factors influencing EDs. We need more investment.

I have been wishing this episode into existence for longer than I care to admit 😅 ...and it did not disappoint!

Amidst (limited and emerging!) research on weight loss medications and their potential impact on mental health, we cannot overstate the influence of weight stigma towards people in larger bodies, which can be a significant source of mental distress.
