After three: Sixers 66, Cavaliers 87.
Quentin Grimes leads the Sixers with 17 points. After total rotation/substitution chaos in the first half, the third quarter was more normal.

Thanks! Feel like those two prospects are the most likely 2026 deadline movers.

Halftime: Sixers 44, Cavaliers 56.
A late push enables the Sixers to hang in there a bit; they have played 12 of their 13 guys (only Kyle Lowry has not gotten into the game). Quentin Grimes has 14 points to lead the way.
Was about to file a Bit Infringement claim.

After one: Sixers 20, Cavaliers 26.
Sixers are 7-20 from the field, though they have played with some spirit and connectivity, I've thought. They have used 11 guys already.
Now Dalen Terry is in the game. With Kelly Oubre Jr. in foul trouble, Nick Nurse has used 11 players in 11 minutes.

Sixers two-way statuses tonight @ Cleveland, Iβm told:
ACTIVE: Tyrese Martin, Dalen Terry, MarJon Beauchamp
INACTIVE: none
Sixers have 0 games of two-way availability left while under 15 players. Martin has 8 games left, Terry has 10 games left and Beauchamp has 24 games left.
Nick Nurse said the next step for Tyrese Maxey is to see at least one hand specialist. Nurse added the fact that it is the same finger that he sprained last season βadds to the concern factor, for sure.β

The Sixers' four highest-paid players β Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe β combine to make more money than this season's NBA salary cap figure. They will all be sidelined on Monday night in Cleveland:

The Sixers have ruled VJ Edgecombe out for tonightβs game @ Cleveland. Had been questionable with his lumbar contusion. Will be his third consecutive absence. Sixersβ highest-paid player available tonight will be Quentin Grimes. Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Paul George all out.

New: This weekβs 5 Sixers thoughts is live!
β’ Life without Tyrese Maxey will be challenging. Who steps up?
β’ Time for an Andre Drummond red light on corner threes?
β’ Markelle Fultz goes to the G League
β’ Jayson Tatum is back, and so are the Celtics

On the bright side: after missing the Sixers' last 10 quarters of action, VJ Edgecombe very well may return to the floor tomorrow night in Cleveland: www.phillyvoice.com/sixers-news-...

Out of a possible 126 games, the Sixers' two highest-paid players, Joel Embiid + Paul George, have combined to make 60 appearances. Tyrese Maxey has played in 61 games, with his only two absences caused by an illness in December. Now, two more are coming:

NEWS: Sixers say βTyrese Maxey suffered a sprain of the right fifth finger. He will undergo additional testing and consultation in the coming days to determine a treatment plan. He is OUT for the next two games and further updates will be provided after the back-to-back.β

The Sixers have an injury report for tomorrow's game @ Cleveland:

VJ Edgecombe β lumbar contusion β QUESTIONABLE
Johni Broome β right knee surgery recovery β OUT
Quentin Grimes had seven 20-plus-point games in the first 22 games of the season, then none for 35 games. On Saturday in Atlanta, Grimes scored 26 points (9-15 FG) in the Sixers' loss to the Hawks:
08.03.2026 15:23 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If the Sixers are going to find success using Trendon Watford in three-big lineups, they should continue incorporating his chops as a post-up player, where he can both score and pass. Nick Nurse likes this part of Watford's game and has utilized it more over the last few days:
08.03.2026 15:13 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maxey chose not to speak postgame, but was in the locker room for much of the open period and looked to be in good spirits. He was using both hands to eat a Chik-fil-A sandwich and type on his phone.
08.03.2026 02:24 β π 13 π 2 π¬ 1 π 3More specifically, itβs an injury to a finger on his right hand. Iβm told he will undergo more testing tomorrow. The Sixers are staying overnight in Atlanta before flying to Cleveland tomorrow.
08.03.2026 02:21 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Maxey just emerged in said hallway and walked into the locker room. He did not have any sort of wrap/protection on his hand at the moment, though I imagine it was just getting examined in some way.
08.03.2026 01:54 β π 4 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Nick Nurse did not have any information beyond Maxey was going to get X Rays. His parents are among those here in the hallway outside the locker room.

A great start, a tough closing effort and a potentially cataclysmic final handful of seconds for the Sixers in Atlanta tonight. Suddenly hard to focus too much on the standings after Tyrese Maxey went down, but this was a meaningful loss:
www.phillyvoice.com/sixers-vs-ha...
Sixers didn't lose because of any one rotation move in particular tonight β their defense was just dreadful for much of the night β but the way-too-long Andre Drummond second-half stint is hard to fathom. We'll see on Tyrese Maxey's right hand, obviously ominous. Story coming.
