20 years ago today I published the first advent web design article on 24ways.org and began a 15 year journey on which I got to collaborate with the most amazing group of people.

It’s that time of year again when I have to upload new firmware to the Christmas tree.

Today is 17 years since Favrd shut down.

The data export from Flickr is actually really comprehensive and it wouldn’t be difficult to create a static version to self host (on infra already paid for) but do I need another project?

I’m on a mission of cancelling things I’m not using and this one stings every time the money goes out. Especially as by today’s standards the storage is tiny. Most of those photos are like postage stamps!

I do have a backup. Is the trail of broken links that would leave behind that’s a bit sad. But £74 a year for something I’m not using just seems like a waste.

Fellow old folk who have Flickr Pro accounts, what are you doing about your subscriptions? I don’t use Flickr anymore and don’t really want to keep paying the ever increasing subscription, but it looks like if I go free they’ll delete my content. Not sure I have it in me to migrate.
