14.11.2025 19:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My MS advisor was Swiss and told us that being in the lab nights and weekends was a sign that we were not good at managing time. Don't do it much - it makes both of us look bad.
13.11.2025 19:37 β π 16 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Exactly what it says on the label: The Pope in 1982. He's wearing a black hat, dark RayBans, and looks like he's a member of the Blues Brothers.
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?
It's the Pope in 1982.
I wish it were better understood that this is an act of mass murder akin to firing into a large crowd. Impossible to say specifically who will die as a result of this action, but certainty that it will be many.
12.11.2025 14:31 β π 147 π 63 π¬ 4 π 3I'm such a nerd for energy data, I probably should have gotten a L2 charger (with this data reporting) sooner. I'm sure I'll figure out something fun to do with this data...
12.11.2025 19:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Those complaining about the high rate of electricity in California, are sort of out of touch with reality. High rates *DONT* mean high bills.
Normal people - i.e. not #energysky - don't care about the RATE they pay, but the BILL at the end of the month.
Californians pay less than 40 states.
It's an artistic representation of a circulatory system walking through a kitchen, as drawn by Dave Gibbons and written about by Alan Moore. It happens a lot 'round here.
Happy There Is A Circulatory System Walking Through The Kitchen Day to all who celebrate.

You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth, made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

When I was a student, we had a homework assignment about the most efficient packing method for soda cans!
She loves the car - great design. This comes after her deep hatred for my Chevy Volt. I also think the Volt has a great design, but that is mostly on the internal elements.
08.11.2025 16:59 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sort of. Staying with a friend, so she will slowly charge at 1 kW.
08.11.2025 16:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Apparently, the car keeps track of this and reminds her of which plug she is looking for.
08.11.2025 15:49 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah. Before she left, I started in on a lecture about fast charging networks and kW speeds and she was uninterested and basically said "it'll be fine". And it was!

08.11.2025 15:13 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She wanted to get a gasoline hybrid (bc she liked the seats and interior features!), but I talked her into the idea that we should be going all electric at this point.

Regular person buys electric vehicle, goes on day-long road trip, no issues
Ok, she made it to DC just fine and only a slightly longer time than in a gasoline car. Given that this is the first day she has used or even thought about fast charging, I declare EV road trips to be accessible for regular people.
08.11.2025 02:00 β π 23 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0A somewhat surprising update:
07.11.2025 22:00 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0I do like that I can spy on her progress through the app. Seems to be going ok with the fast charging.
07.11.2025 21:20 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Wife just took the new-ish EV (ID4) for the 6 hr trip to DC. I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous about her charging experience...
(she is a normie, not a clean energy sicko)
This has got to include the Terra Ignota series (starts with Too Like the Lightning) from @adapalmer.bsky.social.
04.11.2025 03:51 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That sounds like an endorsement. As good as the earlier TT games?

26.10.2025 22:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm not sure that Americans even think of it as something consumed in Italy. It is more like the name of the sandwich than an implied origin, at this point.

26.10.2025 03:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Should I say "less" or "fewer" here?

Folks, it is the year 2025 and Word's grammar checker is suggesting that I should change "fewer" to "less few".
