08.03.2026 14:17 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Patagonia truly is wilderness untamed. It is not just the awe inspiring mountains, but also the stormy, dramatic and rapidly changing weather which make it so very special!โ
Although the wind was screaming in my ears it was a scene of serenity & breathtaking majesty as the Cuernos del Paine lit up in magnificent light. Light I had not witnessed in 5 years of exploring Patagonia.
The ever changing light is what makes Patagonia so very special. In Torres del Paine, a spot lit iceberg is dwarfed by mountains in the shade, except the jagged summit, bathed in the warm afternoon sun.
Fierce winds drive off snow and ice from the peaks of Paine Grande in Patagonia's Torres del Paine National Park. There is a whole world of drama and grandeur to be found far above in the peaks of mountains, and especially so for Patagonia!
In 2 days I'm leaving for wild, amazing Patagonia to run my annual photography tours, timed for peak fall colors. Please visit my website at beautysurroundsyou.com/patagonia-ph... to find out more about our 2027 tours! I can't wait!

These peaks are volcanic plugs and are part of what is called the "Nine Sisters" stretching from San Luis Obispo to Morro Rock. Clara Zetkin (1857โ1933), a German socialist and women's rights activist, proposed the establishment of an annual International Women's Day (IWD) at the 1910 Second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. Supported by over 100 delegates from 17 countries, the day was designed to advocate for suffrage, equality, and labor rights.

As I write this on Saturday night, I have just finished this book, and I am pretty blown away. I now admit I should not have read this in a week. I should have read it as more of a meditation. It contains many extraordinary passages I should have lingered over much longer. But it had been highly recommended by several good friends, and I was curious, so I charged through. I must admit it wasnโt the book for me, though it is a nearly flawless work. This is a book that starts out with a missing cat and goes on to plumb the darkest depths of the Japanese-Russian conflicts of WWII. It dances through the highs and lows of a marriage, and up and down the alleys of realities. I appreciated the quality of the writing, but as with the one other Murakami book Iโd read (โNorwegian Woodโ), I found it all to be a bit removed from feeling and passion. I am prepared to believe that is my own culture gap with the authorโs style. โThe Wind-Up Bird Chronicleโ has become a classic in literature. Iโll be looking at it more over this next week as I decompress from this reading. 4 โญ๏ธ ยฉ๏ธ 1997 607 p.
