Fiction, especially writing it, makes you PAY ATTENTION to the truth and the bloody realities of the world, even if you're writing about elves. Writers already know this. It's why we're often sad. So, when someone says you shouldn't be focusing on your writing, you can just lol at that person.

Getting ready to go home for several weeks (Xmas, NYE, my birthday) has me detailing my coffee maker and putting in a new filter, making sure I have plenty of ice, clean sheets and towels upon my return. One of the little pleasures of being a grown-up, for me.

I have used my VitaMix habitually since 2010 at least— even daily for periods of time — and I still wince and white knuckle it every single time. 😝🙉
