The continuation of the infographic with a yellow background showing the remaining points (5-7) of "7 Things the ILMS Funds in Michigan" and a conclusion section labeled "Bottom Line" with a quote from the State Librarian. 7 Things the ILMS Funds in Michigan Early Literacy Support Summer reading, early literacy materials & training for public librarians to support family literacy. Resulted in 651,603 children's visits to MI public libraries in 2023. Local History Support Training and materials to assist libraries, museums, and historical societies in preserving their community local history. Tech Support Assistance & training for library staff to improve & expand community access to technology and the internet. This support enables 97% of public libraries to offer public Wi-Fi. Michiganders made 10.7 million Wi-Fi connections & checked out 100,000+ hotspots at libraries in 2024. Bottom Line "Michigan's 1,277 public, school, academic, Tribal, & special libraries are anchors for literacy, technology access, and life-long enrichment, and the mission and support of the IMLS are critical to continuing the institute's important role in our communities. Successful and impactful programs would disappear without these funds." - State Librarian Randy Riley.
Today, the Michigan Department of Education provided an official statement about the executive order to abolish IMLS.

Congresswoman Summer Lee stands in front of a crowd and is holding a microphone.
A person stands and is holding a banner that reads: No one elected Elon Musk
A portrait of Gwynne Wilcox. She is smiling, is wearing glasses, and a red blazer.
Trumpβs illegal firing of Gwynne Wilcox was a blatant attack on workersβ rights. Todayβs federal ruling reinstating her to the NLRB is a huge win for workers + rule of law.
Proud to have stood alongside our allies in the labor movement.
When workers stand together, no power can stand before them.
Earth Justice @earthjustice.bsky.social is a great follow.
The only question remaining is when is enough enough. At what point do we the people get out en mass and demand a stop to this insanity.
I've been thinking this too but I don't want to give them ammo to throw me in a debtors prison πππ
14.02.2025 02:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If ur revolution isn't being led by black and indigenous folks, by Latina women, trans/nb folks, the disabled, the elderly...it's not a revolution. It won't be a revolution until the ones who have the most to lose are the ones at the table. Cede ur desire for leadership, cede your voice.
13.02.2025 17:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm talking about the dudes we all collectively shit on bc it was cool to hate veterans or some shit. Disgusting. And now bc of it, many of them choose to throw their lot in with a dude who has never experienced the realities of war and never will. Bc he pretended to listen. Y'all disgust me.
13.02.2025 17:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What have we lost by not listening to our elders? No I'm not talking about ur racist old gramma who probably spit at black people during integration. No I'm talking about the ppl who actually experienced war. Usually they are the most peaceful. Bc they know what that peace cost.
13.02.2025 17:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Everyone wants to believe they're the ones who are gonna go out bravely fighting but most likely they'll be shitting their pants n crying. Why do y'all suppose the UN was started?? Bc the actual VETERANS were like "never again. Never ever again." And u want to go back to that????
13.02.2025 17:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0By the way, if ur fantasy is going out somehow protecting all u love in a glorious revolutionary act against the state bc u figured out how to use a gun, spoiler alert: you're probably going to die horribly and ur loved ones will still suffer. Oop. Yeah I said it.
13.02.2025 17:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0I'm on a tear today I swear. If ur not actively reading black feminist theory, I mean...really sitting with it, digesting it, If ur not learning ur history and applying what u learn...are u really doing anything for the world beyond playing into the hands of men who would rather see it all burn?
13.02.2025 17:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've tried bringing this up so many times and there's always some keyboard warrior who pulls some bs justifying why they promote accelerationism but I'm sorry, do you actually READ black female authors like bell hooks, Angela Davis, and KimberlΓ© Crenshaw or do u just pretend to?
13.02.2025 16:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We have lost the ability to be empathetic with each other and it is killing us. The billionaires are using it against us. They're sad little boys who weren't hugged enough by their dads. Don't let them win.
13.02.2025 16:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And this isn't me being like "no we gotta make peace with them" either. No, they should be mocked and shamed mercilessly. They should be made to feel pain. And I mean that in a constructive way. They should be made to feel the kind of pain that builds empathy.
13.02.2025 16:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I always see bs like "oh we gotta burn it down to make it better" and yet no one wants to talk about who that affects first. The poor, the disabled, the elderly, the young. Basically anyone not male and able-bodied. If ur rhetoric doesn't keep the most vulnerable top of mind, I don't want to hear it
13.02.2025 16:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0If a "leftist's" rhetoric begins to sound like more like a fash...like "we gotta get em before they get us" kinda bs...I really have to wonder if they haven't missed the forest for the trees. And i say this AS A PERSON WHO OWNS GUNS btw. You never ever hope you'll have to use one.
13.02.2025 16:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Like, we've been outsourcing all of our fighting for years and years, but the world is generally moving on from this and looking toward peace. (Not everywhere ofc but def in lots of places) However the MIC needs to justify continuing to exist. So they drum up bs to keep ppl scared, keep em buying.
13.02.2025 16:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is it just me or does anyone ever think about the fact that things like diplomacy, ceasefires, even critical thinking are in direct opposition to the MIC and that all of this bs 47 is doing is really just a ploy to keep us fighting so they can sell more guns n ammo?
13.02.2025 16:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0How is anyone even functioning in this environment? I can't function.
11.02.2025 17:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I AGREE OMG
07.02.2025 06:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm sorry babe. Love u. β€οΈ
05.02.2025 22:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Some alternatives: shopping locally/regionally, shopping small, bartering with neighbors, shopping secondhand, joining and participating in a buy nothing group and/or sale. Learning to repair rather than buy new. Y'all, mindless consumerism got us here. We have the power to get ourselves out!
04.02.2025 23:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Like, I know it hurts. Trust me I know. I know "no ethical consumption under capitalism" blah blah blah. I'm saying FOCUS ON WHAT U CAN CONTROL. Make better choices. I can't control what Elon and Trump do. I can control my pennies getting hoovered to fund their machine. We are at war, act like it.
04.02.2025 23:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If u wanna really fuck over the capitalists: stop purchasing from them. Full stop. Stop giving your money to Whole Foods and Amazon. Avoid giving money to any company actively working against unionization. Yes that means ur precious Trader Joe's too. They're complicit.
04.02.2025 23:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sure why not! Thanks for asking!
03.02.2025 22:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a librarian, this has been my near constant worry since day 1
03.02.2025 00:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0jfc what kind of sadistic company do you keep?
03.02.2025 00:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I enjoyed Sacramento a lot! That's about a 35 min drive from there. Sadly was not able to get a job there like I wanted. (I def tried!)
03.02.2025 00:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you like living in California and can't imagine living somewhere else, cool! Now you know how I feel living here.
02.02.2025 08:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Like, I had (and still have!) wonderful friends there who I love deeply and enjoy visiting. I had a relatively good job and stable housing situation
There. But there was a lot i missed about the midwest. Yes, believe it or not, some of us LIKE living here.
