Some alternatives: shopping locally/regionally, shopping small, bartering with neighbors, shopping secondhand, joining and participating in a buy nothing group and/or sale. Learning to repair rather than buy new. Y'all, mindless consumerism got us here. We have the power to get ourselves out!

I enjoyed Sacramento a lot! That's about a 35 min drive from there. Sadly was not able to get a job there like I wanted. (I def tried!)

Like, I had (and still have!) wonderful friends there who I love deeply and enjoy visiting. I had a relatively good job and stable housing situation
