Yes, that is a possibility, and there are debates on the earliest Yemeni mariner communities in South Shields, Cardiff etc... Although would it be quicker to take sail around the coast rather than travel inland (and cheaper if you could work on board)?

This is really interesting- I am just up the road from Charlton Kings. Was there any details of what the payment was for? Links to Yemen must have grown with the rise of the coffee trade from the 1650s, and would be interested to hear the details of this payment.

Appears journalists who were allowed into Gaza under IDF supervision were taken to the archeological mound Tell Ali Muntar and shown the massive destruction in Shujaiyah.

After conducting extensive earthworks on top of the archeological mound Tell Ali Muntar, it appears in more recent @planet.com SkySat imagery from October 7 that the IDF has since paved the top of the mound.

The visible black area is similar to what we've seen when pavement has been used elsewhere.

Yes, odd that it had never been identified as it appears in records from C13, had standing earthworks alongside a main road (A530) with masonry fragments visible, and a rare C12 coin hoard found to the E in 1939. There will be a lot of evidence still surviving below ground - more research needed!

I had only identified the site in 2005 and it was not scheduled, so nothing to prevent landscaping. Sandstone pillar fragments alongside the road were also removed during roadworks around the same time.

It appears the IDF are conducting more earthworks on top of Tell Ali Muntar, potentially further damaging a Bronze Age-era archeological hill in what little remains of Gaza City's Shejaiya neighborhood.
