Anglian Water hosted a visit to Graffham Water by several members of the Province, organised by Descensus Aquarum Lodge in Ely. They learned about the challenges of running a water supply reservoir which also provides a haven for wild life and recreation opportunities.

Over half of the brethren of The Porta Lodge recently met in Ely for an informal breakfast - arranged using WhatsApp’s poll feature to set date, venue and menu. It shows how easy it can be to organise meaningful lodge events and bring brethren together using everyday tools.

Nine members of Caldwell Lodge No. 3201 made their annual exchange visit to Martin Folkes Lodge No. 6622 at Heacham Manor Hotel in Norfolk last week. They saw a great second degree ceremony and lovely Festive Board followed, where the reply to all the toasts are traditionally sung.

The Cambridgeshire Masonic Bowls season got off to an excellent start with an indoor Inter-Lodge Pairs Competition at Ely. Geoff Day and Bryan Saddington (St. Audrey Lodge) triumphed over Roger Kilham and Richard Phillips (St. Andrew Lodge) securing the Colin Hutchinson Trophy.

The Lodge of United Good Fellowship No 809 Installation Meeting was attended by 80 brethren including the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Jonathan Lambert. Β£450 was raised to support the Wardens on Tour Cycle Ride from Wisbech to support Maggies Centre in Cambridge

Stone Cross Lodge No. 6704 enjoyed a wonderful First Degree ceremony this week, with candidate Bro. Alexander Harper and his proposer having been friends for a long time.

At our Masonic Widows Friendship Club meeting retiring Chairman Tony Mason was presented with a gift in recognition of his service to the club, as founder, secretary Chairman. Tony Kirby was appointed the new Chairman and Bryan Saddington gave a talk on UK piers and coastal towns.

There was a fine line-up for the Ely United Lodge of Instruction Annual Sausage Supper last week. Perennial Initiate Mr Percival Thistlethwaite was yet again the star of the show at Ely Masonic Hall. The acting officers were from all 4 Ely Lodges and the Festive Board was a culinary tour de force.

At the Installation meeting of Etheldreda Royal Arch Chapter No 809 the Principals had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for Β£250 for the Maggie's Cambridge Appeal. During a very successful meeting David Sowman was also called upon to present a Past MEZ Jewel and Grand Chapter Certificates.
