Thread from @nateinthewild: I think what’s being missed in all this government shutdown stuff is that people and agencies can contribute to *society* without contributing to the economy. Stuff like libraries, USPS, USFS and social services don’t make the stock market go up, but they are inherently GREAT ideas for a healthy and happy populace. Things dont need to be profitable to be worthwhile and I wish more people understood that.
