We deeply mourn the ending of the regular publication of YES! Magazine. Yet the magazine's incredible legacy will live on: The Truthout Center for Grassroots Journalism, which is stewarding YES!βs digital archives, has launched a monthly YES! Newsletter.

Another progressive media outlet is closing its doors. :( I am grateful for the 5.5 years of solutions stories I got to publish at @yesmedia.bsky.social. I'm a talented editor, skilled and collaborative journalist, and I have great story sense. Please feel free to send leads or make intros!

Oh noooo, this is awful news! π
YES! Media's stories are exactly the kind we need more than ever right now.
It's just so painful that the very unjust systems they're working to dismantle have made it impossible for them to keep operating.
When I think about @yesmedia.bsky.social, I remember this piece they published in early 2020 about Reclaim the Block. It mightβve been the first not-local writing about our work. β€οΈ www.yesmagazine.org/social-justi...
07.05.2025 15:49 β π 7 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0this is so sad. @yesmedia.bsky.social was the first magazine to take a bet on me β first as an intern and then as a staff editor. i learned so much there. sad to see its story end

Iβve read YES! for the past 25 years, and am grateful for its decades of powerful media-making, and its guiding light in the realm of solutions journalism. Such a sad loss.π
07.05.2025 17:49 β π 54 π 23 π¬ 1 π 1I published this piece for @theflytrapmedia.com in January. It is now May and YES! is sunsetting.
I will soon share more about the amazing team running this publication and how we can support them in their next chapters. But for now, I am in deep grief.
Indie media simply deserves better.
Thereβs so much to say and too little room, so Iβll let my LinkedIn post speak for itself.
Thank you to @freeblackgirl.bsky.social for opening the door for journalists like me and making way for solutions-accountability journalism. I am forever grateful.
Grateful for your support. We grieve together β€οΈβπ©Ή

This was not the outcome we hoped forβbut it follows years of tireless efforts to find a sustainable path forward.
We are heartbroken but we are also incredibly proud. Proud of what we built. Proud of who we built it with. And proud of the impact that YES! has had on the world.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
After nearly 30 years of publishing independent, justice-centered journalism, YES! Media will sunset operations at the end of June 2025.
