If there's one thing I feel is important, it's to never stay stuck in the past.
Look, everyone likes their nostalgia and memories, but if you stay stuck in the past, it becomes harder to grow accustomed to the present because you're always living in a bygone time.

Watched Wall-E again. Realized, "Wow. The current day is somewhat like that, except far more dystopian and soulless." If machines actually were like those in Wall-E, and had actual feelings and emotions and whatnot, MAYBE I'd consider warming up to them, but reality is cruel.

I wonder what Japanese people think of Americans who don't support the... *ahem* crazies, over here. Like, we have a bad rep, I get it. I live here, and I didn't even ask to be from here!

I fucking hate the Quest 2. As someone who primarily uses it for PCVR gaming, it's barely usable. All the options are unreliable, buggy messes.

Sorry for the lack of much of anything for the past few days, been going through some things. Will probably take another day off for my well-being before getting back to work.

That's why I firmly believe that gameplay mechanics should belong to everyone.
If I EVER file a patent, I'm going to sit on it so no one else can have it, and only use it if people are using it in a harmful manner.
There is, after all, a difference between having a patent, and using it.

No single person should be able to own a gameplay mechanic in my opinion, but copying a game 1:1 is also a bit of a no-no. But if everyone patented everything, we wouldn't have dozens of games trying to iterate and improve on a formula, thousands of games just wouldn't exist because of patents.

It's not just that, the patent on the Nemesis system made by Monolith, that system is AMAZING, but now Monolith is shut down and they're not using it anymore, but the patent is still there, and it sucks. I feel people should be able to build off the Nemesis system now that Monolith is gone.

I think the biggest example here is Nintendo in light of the Palworld lawsuit. Patents on characters coming from a point in space from an object you throw? Patents on the functions of a CAMERA? Patents on GLIDING? Patents on riding on a character!? Is horseback riding a Nintendo thing now?!

That's like trying to say, "I invented swinging a sword by dragging the mouse across the screen in a video game, and only I can use it!" It's dumb. People should be free to experiment and iterate on gameplay mechanics, not be restricted from using them, especially if they're REALLY good

In my personal opinion, patents on gameplay are single-handedly the most harmful thing to gaming as a whole. Sure, you shouldn't go stealing ideas, but entire gameplay mechanics? Sure, you can make something no one else has, but saying no one else can use it?

Been trying to make my profiles more interesting by posting more, lately. Kinda tricky to do that on vacation though... But I still want to have *something* worth your time.

Ran into an old friend on Sky, reminds me of how much I loved the game... and that my sona is often compared to Sky, despite the two not being related.

It's nice to catch up with old friends.

There are some feelings I absolutely hate.

One of them is the idea that you are only a tool to your friends, who don't really care about what you do.

I haven't been drinking coffee lately. Been avoiding that spike in caffeine, but I still gotta focus on work rather than slack off and play game, look at social media, etc.

I'm one of those guys who has trouble focusing, usually because I'm jamming out to music, which is where this drawing comes from.

My earlier morning routine of drinking coffee was probably to blame. I'd wake up, feel fine, drink coffee, start going hyper, and an hour later feel exhausted.

Please, never be afraid to hit 'block' on someone you're not comfortable interacting with. 👍

Heh, I was scrolling and ran into someone I'd rather not see. Turned into an "Oh... You're here too..." situation.

What did I do? I just block 'em and look the other way. I'm not here to them, they're not here to me, and I'm glad that's something I can do on this platform. Thanks, Bluesky.

There will always be room for improvement in my craft, and more than likely, my brain will tell me, "This ain't it, chief" more than a few times, but maybe I'll hit that mark I've set for myself one day. Just gotta work harder. 👍

There are probably gonna be some things that I won't post here. Mostly things like, "I wish I was good at such and such" because it just makes me feel like I look like an egotistical jackass. But, hey. In reality, I just want to improve my craft so I do cool things as a job someday. 🫠
