Actually, a permanent pedestrian crosswalk at this spot wouldn't be terrible.

When I was single, I would sometimes spend an entire weekend without speaking to anyone. Never really bothered me. But I do live in the city, so human proximity is as easy as taking a book to a pub a few blocks away.

The bill's probably been stuck in the same book as the Parliamentary Snuff Tobacco Box, and everyone thought it was too quaint to bother with.

Growing up in Russia, this was the normal way of making tea - a pot of really strong brew, that everyone then diluted to preference. So this is like an individual version of that.

A pair of prismatic sun dogs visible in the sky filled with thin, feathered clouds. The sun itself is positioned behind banners hung from a lamp post.

Caught a lovely pair of sun dogs, using a found star shade :)

I think I saw it half a dozen times just in the theater. The best.

Someone in my neighborhood has been putting their fireplace to use, and the aroma is wonderful. Just a sweet tinge of burning wood in the cold air.

However, on some level, it's also a wonder of our evolution. A million years ago, smell of fire was a sure sign of terror, not cozy pleasure.

Why keep art at an arm's length? Fall in love with a book. Let it be a mess.

Perhaps a very advanced crow is building a treasure trove by robbing midnight drunks.

Any word on whether they will have a full kitchen again in the new space?

When I was in college I used to routinely knock out essay in two-three hours, and I don't consider myself to be an especially productive writer. Who are these people?

From the essay:
A college student in Utah told Intelligencer, “I spend so much time on TikTok, hours and hours, until my eyes start hurting, which makes it hard to plan and do my schoolwork. With ChatGPT, I can write an essay in two hours that normally takes twelve.”

The right amount of obscurity might be a hard task. Kinda wondering about Edgar Allan Poe - but specifically his crime fiction short stories. (Although one of them is not quite fiction?)

I'm not sure about standalone billboards, but there are definitely promotional murals around DC.

Although they're all way prettier than this creepy nonsense.

A small front room by a three-way bay window, flanked by a pair of wing armchairs. There are curtains on the windows, gathered to one side, plants on the sills, small sidetables covered with books. The only illumination is orange stringlights hung about the windows.

I assume this is a version of the rifle that shot muzzle-loaded bayonets.

I'm asking because I myself have little experience with firearms, none outside of a range. But does running work? It's definitely way faster than me.

In all the videos of FPVs hitting infantry, they almost never try to shoot back. Why not? Surely a single hit from a rifle would take it out. Are they really such a hard target to hit?
